Sour (Tyre) (85km south of Beirut)
Spot is very suitable especially for beginners as well as advanced. It blows South west wind in summer from 10 to 18 knots. So, you need 16m and 12m kites or an SLE15m (only). The north wind kicks in very well in early spring. You will need similar kite sizes. The spot is very safe but watch out from wind direction of the SW. It is a bit on shore. In summer, you will see a lot of shacks, so best thing is to go to the last shack and kite after it and you still have a decent safe area.
Rmeileh (35 km south of Beirut)
Very good spot for learning in North wind that happens in April, May, up to mid June. Wind speed is between 10 knots to 20 knots max. The water is relatively flat with small waves. Be ware of sunbathers who occupy the beach starting mid May. So, if you are not so good, better you drive to Sour to have a safe ride without harming anybody. You will need 16m and 12m kites for that wind.
North Marina - Tripoli (55 km north of Beirut)
An awesome spot that blows good south west wind all summer and many days of the year between 15 to 35 knots. Unfortunately, the spot is strictly for good riders that can go upwind and are relaxed and confident on their boards. There are a lot of rocks around and no safe place to come back and no rescue. Many people who are not good riders "will" damage themselves or their equipment on that spot. To get the same wind, and you are still a beginner, you better drive to Tartous (just 1 hour from North Marina) where you will have a long sandy stretch with same wind conditions. For these two spots you will need 12m and 8m kites.
